Establish connections and agreements in implementing School-to-Work programs with local and regional businesses and industries that enhance the work force and provide graduates with gainful employment and/or educational opportunities after high school.

.3/5/2008 3:05:00 AMIf only 19% of our county has bachelor degrees we should be encouraging students to attend school beyond high school too. Fort Atkinson has many industries that also support administrative and management opportunities.
.3/14/2008 8:01:00 AMNo. Schools can not take on more and more. Schools should shift their focus from creating future workers to helping mold whole, healthy, literate, art-enjoying, tolerant, civic-minded people. I hear teachers talking about employment to our 8-year-olds, and teaching about interview skills to fifth graders. C'mon! This is absurd. Let the kids be interested in adventure stories and science experiments and art projects and recess. They have no use for interview skills at age 10 and all the use in the world for their imaginations and freedom and childhood silliness.
.3/14/2008 9:12:00 PMYou should also place more emphasis on volunteering the community and advocate volunteer activities by students of all ages, but especially in the middle and high schools.
.3/25/2008 3:50:00 PMIf we are going to expand on other alternative programs, I think this is the most important. I have seen students excel in this area. Some kids are just better at working, than sittnig in a learning environment.
