Diversity: Continue to work on building learning communities where respect and honor are readily recognized as a signature characteristic of the School District of Fort Atkinson.

.2/20/2008 9:03:00 PMYes!!! We need kids and adults to realize the importance of RESPECT! This is lacking in today's society!
.2/22/2008 6:24:00 PMfaculty should reflect the diversity of the student body
.3/5/2008 3:05:00 AMWhat are we doing as a school district to spread the ethnic population throughout our elementary schools? I feel that Barrie is not as integrated as some of the other schools are. Are we going to continue as a neighborhood based school system?
.3/9/2008 3:04:00 PMFrom the administration, the instructors, and the student body.
.3/14/2008 8:01:00 AMDiversity, yes! And let's learn to celebrate the diversity of children as children, and not mini-adults. Schools should not be so adamant upon hurrying children toward responsibility, seriousness, the work ethic -- these are the domains of adults! Let us honor the diversity of what children bring to the table: spontanaety, kindness, silliness, laughter, acceptance, self-confidence. Trust the children! Let them lead us to gentleness! Honor their diversity in skills, in backgrounds, in their differences from each other and from us as adults. If we truly respect their diversity from us, then they will want to be like us! They will grow up willingly and fully, and not rushed and guiltily.
.4/10/2008 2:45:00 AMFort Atkinson is changing. Why are so many Latino students so concentrated in a few schools and hardly any in others? Many in Fort want to keep it that way. This furthers racial barriers and shuts out opportunities for all. Respect and honor? That doesn't go far enough. That seems like a way of superficially dealing with educating people. Fort needs some experts in this area to help the "experts" beyond the respect and honor stage.
