#Response DateResponse Text
.2/20/2008 9:04:00 PMClass size. Many classes have 30+ kids. Way too many to meet individual needs!!!
.3/3/2008 9:19:00 PMINCLUDE PARENT INVOLVEMENRT IN ACADEMIC AGENDA
.3/9/2008 3:13:00 PMI know that Football and Basketball bring in funds, but I would like to see "lifetime" sports encouraged more. I like to see basic sciences, reading comprehension, and math skills above all else. These are the things that will form the basis of the students future skills in higher education. USA has about the finest University /college system in the world, but the transition from High School to the next level is very difficult because our system falls short in compared the rest of the educated countries.
.3/13/2008 1:25:00 AMThe arts are critical
.3/14/2008 8:06:00 AMI believe children and their parents need to be taught to be grateful for and respectful of the wonders of nature. Stewardship of the earth and its resources should be modeled in the schools and taught, with an eye toward sustainability and self-sufficiency, so that children are prepared for a future that will require creative problem-solving in the light of climate change and Peak Oil, exponential population growth, and a global economy.
.3/14/2008 3:57:00 PM- Addressing diversity issues. - Establish district-wide policy to address bullying issues.
.3/25/2008 3:51:00 PMNothing mentioned about keeping our schools safe. I believe this should be a priority.
.3/25/2008 11:21:00 PMContinue great strides to become sustainable environments and walkable communities so that our students do not necessarily need to drive of get rides to schools, and keep looking for ways to reduce our footprint on the earth. Make sure educate our youth about sustainable living and lead by example. Maintain our comittment to Arts education, one of the reasons our school district has so many out of town students is due to our fine arts programs. These must never be considered a frill, but a essential part of all education.
.3/26/2008 3:27:00 AMCommittment to arts programs in the schools. Studies sho that students that have arts training and project in the schools do better and are more engaged. Arts are NOT a frill.
.4/10/2008 2:52:00 AMKeep costs down especially in nonessential areas--those that don't address your priorities. Show how much you trim each year to avoid coming back to the taxpayers with another referendum. In business we cut programs that aren't producing or helping with generating revenue. Do you do that with areas that don't generate learning or student growth? How many nonessential staff were cut or reassigned so as to keep a focus on your academic agenda?
.4/14/2008 2:05:00 PMGet back to teaching the 3Rs. We can't afford to be everything to everybody. Teachers should get continuing education on their time, they get pay increases for getting more education so they need to make a choice if they job movement is how they want to spend their time.
